Do not boast about tomorrow.

While sports teach us good characteristics and life lessons that last far beyond the playing field, sports can also teach us some bad habits and characteristics if we allow it. I stood on the sidelines of a game last night that our team came out victorious after a long hard-fought battle, and on the bus ride home one of the coaches addressed the team saying, “Great win tonight guys, enjoy it, but always remember, attitude is everything, and humility is the key to be a great player and team. Pride can be our worst enemy on the field and off...

The same applies to our walk with Christ, Proverbs 27: 1-2 says, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring, let another praise you, and not your own mouth.” In sports and in life it’s easy to look at what we have accomplished and feel good about ourselves or have pride in our own work, but the key is to remain humble and not boast about yourself but allow others to speak well of you and ultimately let God receive all the glory.
